New Shoes

I love buying shoes, but I usually take forever to actually decide on a pair to get. The other day, Sport Chalet was having a sale, and I happened to be right by the store, so I checked it out. Within 20 minutes I had a cute new pair of shoes! See for yourself:

I am hoping that they will help me break my "wearing flip-flops every day" habit. :)
Do you like buying shoes? If so, what was your most recent purchase? And if not, WHY NOT?? :)

Personalized Plates

What would you put on your license plate if you could get a personalized one? I've thought of a couple of good ones over the years, but have never spent the $$ to get one. I have an amatuer radio license plate now, and it looks like a personalized one. It's very cool!

So, what would you put on your license plate if you could get a personalized one? Put it in the comments! OR, if you already have one, tell us what it is! :)

Magnetic Poetry

Did you know that there is an online way to play with magnetic poetry? Here is a link: http://play.magpogames.com/create.cfm?k=2

Try it! It's really fun! And if you come up with a poem that you like, post it in the comments!

The best feeling (or at least a bunch of good ones!)

What is the best feeling in the world? Here are some that I've collected:

Sleeping in

The first summer swim

Laughing so hard it hurts

Making a stranger smile

Warm, cozy blankets

Packing for vacation

Knowing you will be ok

What are some that you can think of? Write them in the comments! :)

Here's my version of "I'm From"

I am from clothes on lines, from Sanka and sawdust.

I am from the backyard tree, a swing set, the barking dog.

I am from pine trees, camellias, asphalt, oleander, geraniums, concrete.

I am from too much food and loud talking, from Edwardos and lost children, and last names with 12 letters.

I am from the silent minority and the outspoken fighters.

From tipped uteruses, baked donuts, and just wait until you have kids of your own.

I am from First Holy Communion, CCD, mantillas, and going to confession.

I am from too much noise and not enough said, pizzelles made one at a time, and homemade pizza with canned mushrooms.

From how college only teaches you to drink and swear, the importance of having security over love, and shame passed down instead of the lesson.

I am from boxes of stuff and things tossed away, from full hope chests and houses torn down, and from memories. Lots of memories…

I like old things

I'm pretty sure that I have liked old, or old-fashioned, things since I was pretty young. I sure wish I would have saved more of the old stuff that I used to have! And that I would have acquired more old stuff when we lived in Ohio! Oh, well, I still have a LOT, and that makes me happy. Above are some photos of old things that I won't ever own (they are too expensive, or too big!), but that I think are cool. What old stuff do you like??

Fill in the blanks

Here is a quotation that caught my eye:

I want to think again of dangerous and noble things.

I want to be light and frolicsome.

I want to be improbable beautiful and afraid of nothing,

as though I had wings.

Mary Oliver

What would you put in blanks to make a quotation like this true for you?

I want to think again of __________ and _________ things. I want to be _____ and _______ . I want to be _________ , and _________ , as though ___________________ .

Bring a little magic into the world...

I read that sentence somewhere recently. It sums up what I would like to do most days: bring a little magic into the world. I don't usually actually do it, I just wish I would. :) I'm not even really sure *how* to do it, but sometimes I feel like other people have accomplished it. Like when I read a beautiful book, or see something incredible, or hear a lovely melody. I found this picture on the internet and it looks like a little bit of magic to me:

It is called "Awaiting the Dawn Treader" and was found here: http://www.deviantart.com/

How do you try to bring magic into your world?

Summertime Fun

What are your favorite activities to do during the summer? What did you do as a kid to have fun? Here are some thoughts:

Run through the sprinklers
Throw water balloons
Go swimming, skateboarding, rollerskating
Blow bubbles
Climb a tree
Build a fort
Draw with sidewalk chalk
